Meet Rev. Dr. Ouida Joi

Rev. Dr. Ouida Joi, or Rev. O. as she is called, is an Explorer, Guide, and Facilitator! She has vast experience in the spiritual realm as an thrice Ordained Interfaith Minister, Licensed Minister with the Centers for Spiritual Living (CSL), Certified Mindfulness Teacher, Shamanic Practitioner, Reiki Master Teacher, and Hypnotherapist. Ouida Joi’s faith tradition is Interfaith and her spiritual practices embrace many of the world spiritual traditions, including Christianity, New Thought, Buddhism, Yoruba, and Indigenous traditions. She has studied world religions, New Thought, Metaphysics, Mysticism, Humanism, and meditation for over three decades, and has been an independent Ordained Interfaith-New Thought Minister for over two decades. Like the Dalai Lama, Rev. O's "religion" is Kindness. 

 

Rev. O is the Community Facilitator for the Sacred Sisters Circle, a virtual community honoring all paths, beliefs, and perspectives on living a Life of love, joy, peace, and service. She was the Founding Minister of HeartSpirit Interfaith-New Thought Community in Smyrna, DE. She also founded the Alameda Spiritual Living Center and One Light Interfaith Seminary, both in Alameda, CA, and served as the Senior Minister of The Home of Truth Spiritual Center (THOTSC), also in Alameda, CA. 

 

Rev. O. was ordained through All Faiths Seminary International in New York City, Celebration! Center, and One Light Interfaith Seminary. She is a former member of the Board of the Interfaith Center at the Presidio in San Francisco and founding member of the Alameda Interfaith Network. Rev. O. is a Veriditas-trained Labyrinth Facilitator and a Certified Writing Workshop Leader with Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA). 

 

Rev. O's ancestry is African-American, American Indian, and European and she honors her Ancestors who gave her a deep sense of the Divine. Her maternal grandfather was Afro-Cuban and was a Baptist Minister. Her maternal grandmother was African-American and followed Rev. Ike. Her paternal grandfather was Jewish. Her paternal grandmother was Native American...a rich heritage indeed. Ouida Joi's American Indian Medicine name is "Butterfly Dancer."

 

With over 30 years in Non-Profit Executive Leadership, small business development, and strategic planning for community and faith-based organizations, Rev. O. has an M.A. in Management and a B.A. in Behavioral Science/Psychology (Magna Cum Laude). She has an Honorary Doctor of Ministry from The New Seminary in New York City. She is a nonprofit and small business development consultant and has served on several Boards of Directors.

 

Having worked in shelters in Maryland, Delaware, and California for over 10 years, and having her own childhood experiences with homelessness, she is passionate about serving those experiencing homelessness and meeting their "Mind, Body, Spirit" needs. She is the Founder and Executive Director of "Healing Hearts Healing Spirts" Compassionate Interfaith Spiritual Care to the Homeless.

Rev. O. Joi loves to travel and experience new cultures, locales, and people. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, she is a transplant to the charming state of Delaware after living in the San Francisco/Bay Area for over four decades. She is the very proud mother of an amazing son, and grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters. She enjoys Miksang photography, singing, writing, cooking, yoga, and spending time at the ocean.
